Once upon a time

By Mark Muller

Drum roll … Fanfare … I’ve only gone ‘n written a book! Just a quick update: My first (secular) novel is now written! Apparently that’s the easy part, but – you know me – I’m a positive person! The rest is easy-peasy. It’s gotta be, right?! My novel stats (titles still being tossed around in my head): Words: 79,730 Pages: 318 (MS Word A4 double-spaced) Chapters: 28 (or was it 29, I can’t remember) Plot: Blooming good! Main character: Matt Mulder (I know!) Genre: Crime (ish) suspense thriller (with some witty parts where there shouldn’t be). So, if you’re...

Eric the Sheep

May 2, 2012
By Mark Muller

Hello, My name is Eric and I’m a sheep. I’m a very intelligent sheep. I think for myself; make my own decisions; I am the master of my destiny. For the most part, I don’t mind being a sheep. Sure, it’s complex and sometimes I just wish I was born as something else, I don’t know, something simple – a human, say. You’ve gotta admit, they have it so easy, don’t they?! Life must be so simple. I sometimes just watch them, bustling mindlessly along like, well, humans. They seem to have no mind of their own. Not like...

Writer’s elbow

April 11, 2012
By Mark Muller

I know that I was ‘away’ for a while, over the past few months. I am back, but now I’m writing a novel and, to be honest, I’m all written out! It’s all going into the book, I’m afraid! In case you’re interested, so far I’ve written about 115 pages, 30,000 words and panicking about where the next 50,000 words are going to come from! The story’s quite cool though, so you’ll all have to buy it when it gets published (you and 20 of your friends!). So from an empty brain (almost said ‘mind’ then, but ’80s musical...

Attraction

April 9, 2012
By Mark Muller

So I’m driving along with Cameron, my 11 year old son, beside me in the passenger seat, talking about the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) – as you do on a bank holiday Monday. Well, don’t you?! To be fair, we didn’t start off talking about the Northern Lights. It kind of developed as an offshoot of discussing the viability of his latest invention (okay, the invention he had just made up, ten minutes before). His invention involved pollution, massive filters and ejecting waste into space. This might not, at first glance, appear to be in any way, whatsoever, related...

As I was saying …

April 3, 2012
By Mark Muller

… in my last post … I now – officially have a job! This, by the way, is brilliant news. In the last post I mentioned that I have a job. Yes, well now I have another one! The job I’m doing now is a 6 month contract. Actually, it’s a 4 month contract (6 months was the original estimate) which finishes at the end of May. That would have left me unemployed again at the end of May. However, I now have a job at the company where I have been contracting. The new job is, initially, a...

Long time, no see

April 1, 2012
By Mark Muller

So. How long has it been? Okay, it’s been ages. Since it’s been ages, I was thinking: perhaps just a straight forward, bog-standard news update? Well, we’ll see. I’ll try. Who knows where it’s gonna go! In keeping with the original theme/purpose of this blog site, I am almost obligated to tell you what’s happening! If you are coming to this cold, I suggest you click on Home to establish what’s going on. Basically, I started this blog a couple of months shy of a year ago, to chronicle (in real time) my journey from financial ruin to recovery....
