Emergence

I quit smoking. Yes, I quit smoking. Actually, technically, about ten months ago, when I went onto e-cigarattes, but they were simply a different form of nicotine delivery system. I am still on them, but two weeks ago, I went onto the zero-nicotine liquid that goes in them (I was previously on 18mg nicotine). So. I have been a non-smoker for two weeks. Whoop, whoop. More about this later … both literally and metaphorically. Anyway… “Run for the hills and hide…” Sorry, personal joke. Must learn to limit my writing to what makes...

Going Global!

Things change! Don’t they? Focus shifts. Priorities move. Ends end and beginnings begin. Vision zooms in. Take this blog, for example. When I started it just around two years ago, everything was very different. Different in the world and different in my life. Therefore the blog reflected that. In fact, its whole purpose (initially) was to tell a story – the story of my life at that time, in real time, day-by-day. Then it changed. Because I started changing! It started zooming in on my faith. Because I started zooming in on my faith. And so it morphed into...

Sussed

Sussed Adj. Brit informal: Well-informed; aware So you think you have Jesus sussed? “This he (Judas) said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.” John 12:6 Judas was a thief. He was also Jesus’ treasurer (“had the bag , and bare what was put therein “). Would you put a known thief in charge of your organisation’s finances? Jesus did! Jesus knew his source was His Father and not his treasurer. Are you trusting...

All my life (well, during my school and university years), my mother has been trying to encourage me by telling me I have a high IQ (Intelligence Quotient – the internationally used method of, basically, determining someone’s cleverness). She has refused to tell me what it was, only that it was high and, as a consequence, I should be doing much better at school! Yesterday, with her in her eighties and me approaching fifty, I demanded to know the actual number. So she told me. I’m not going to tell you what it was, but it was a lot...

Inheritance

If you’re reading this, you’re probably in the top whatever percent of the world’s richest people. That is because you have access to some or other device that connects to the Internet. That makes you rich. Well, relatively rich anyway.  Speaking of wealth … So, I don’t know where you are on that scale of wealth. You might be mega-rich, I mean, like private-jet-Rolls-Royce-Phantom-rich, or you might be house-in-the-suburbs-stay-at-home-mom-rich, or you might be got-a-job-struggling-to-pay-the-bills-rich. You might even be any of the above with a mountain of debt keeping your nose just above water level. I don’t know where you...

Is God Sovereign?

27 May 2013
By

“How can you believe in a God who allows disasters, wars, children to die, cancer, rapists and murderers?” How many times have you heard this? How did you reply? I agree 100% with that question. How CAN you believe in a God who allows/causes those things?! Well, I don’t believe in such a God! The god who causes these things is the god of this world. And he is not my God! So, yes, God is sovereign! He is the King of kings! But … He does not control everything! That’s right, He does not control everything on earth. Is...
